Welcome to the Orbis Cascade Alliance’s Generative AI Training course. By completing the course, Alliance member staff will be able to:
- Define essential terms in Generative AI.
- Describe emerging applications of Generative AI in library services.
- Explain in non-technical terms how tools like ChatGPT generate text from prompts.
- Recognize common problems and limitations in AI-generated output.
- Identify ethical, privacy, and intellectual property considerations in applying AI to library work.
- Apply criteria for assessing Generative AI tools for use in library work or academic research.
- Construct effective prompts for useful results.
Lessons
This course consists of five lessons written by the Generative AI Training Project Group in FY2026. The lessons will be presented in a two-hour webinar on April 24, 2026. After the webinar, the recordings and slides will be posted on each lesson page for review and self-paced learning.
